About Efrain Gonzalez
Efrain Gonzalez is a top-notch, board certified physician with 15 years of experience in the medical field. He is currently the CEO of PDP Health, one of the largest health maintenance organizations (HMOs) in Puerto Rico. He has performed a number of surgeries including breast reductions, breast augmentations, tummy tucks, mommy makeovers, vaginal rejuvenations, and more.
Dr. Gonzalez has been named one of “America’s Best Physicians” two years in a row (2005-2006 and 2006-2007). He was also selected as “One of California’s Favorite Physicians” in 2010 by his patients. Dr Gonzalez’ success of countless satisfied patients has come from years of dedication and hard work.
Gonzalez’s education has played a large role in getting him where he is today. He attended high school in Puerto Rico at Colegio Ponceño and graduated in 1979. From there, Gonzalez took the initiative to gain a higher education and advance in the world of medicine. He attended Hofstra University on Long Island. One of his most distinct memories from his time at Hofstra University was seeing Bill Clinton give a speech at Hofstra when running for re-election. Gonzalez is passionate about politics, so seeing this was very meaningful to him.
After graduating from Hofstra in 1984, Efrain Gonzalez went back to Puerto Rico, where he attended medical school at the Universidad Central. After medical school, Gonzalez’s academic path brought him back to New York. Here, Efrain completed his residency in medical centers in Brooklyn and Queens. The residency required him to rotate through four hospitals and he took full advantage of the opportunity. The hospitals where he worked included St. Mary’s and a hospital located in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
After doing his residency, Efrain returned to Puerto Rico once more, this time to start his own practice. Utilizing years of in-field experience and a desire to help people on a larger scale, Efrain founded PDP Health. PDP Health is a clinic for those who are on free or low-cost health insurance plans. PDP provides care in a variety of fields including internal medicine, family practice, gynecology, and general practitioner. Patients are referred to specialists and anything they need can be covered, from eye surgery to foot surgery.
Gonzalez met his wife, a pediatrician, in Puerto Rico, and they now live in Rocklin, California, a suburb of Sacramento, with their children who will soon be attending college. Gonzalez still owns PDP and treats his patients with respect, honesty and integrity.
